With Christmas approaching and people hitting the shops to prepare for Christmas, Post Office Home Insurance has increased the cover on its policies by 10 per cent during December so its customers will be protected over the festive period.

Gifts for family and friends usually means there are more valuables and expensive items in the house over Christmas and with finances already stretched, the possibility of theft or accidental damage can be an additional worry.

Post Office Home Insurance automatically raises the level of contents cover during big celebrations such as Christmas to ensure that any gifts or extra valuables in the home at this time of year are protected.

Post Office Head of Home Insurance, Gerry Barrett, said: “Home insurance is the last thing on your mind at Christmas, but by automatically raising the level of cover during this period, the Post Office ensures that customers have one less thing to worry about. This means they can enjoy the festive season with peace of mind that their gifts and home contents are fully protected should anything happen.”
